Injuries here, injuries there. It’s been the same story all season. Just as it looked like Bielsa’s team selection woes were coming to an end, they’ve just ramped up again.
In today’s press conference, we learnt that both Pontus Jansson and Tyler Roberts are set to miss the game. Jansson, is a doubt, though Tyler Roberts has an ankle problem. It is unclear whether they will be in a position to be selected for the second leg.
Roberts missed the last game through injury, and many people thought his absence was very noticeable. The pace he brings and a willingness to run with the ball at a player was much needed and could have come in handy against Derby, who Leeds will look to play on the front foot against.
With Jansson’s injury, we are likely to see Gaetano Berardi start at centre-back. Cooper beside him and Ayling and Dallas on the right and left sides of defence, respectively.
This is a hammer blow to Leeds certainly, but no worse than they have put up with throughout this season. The players coming in are well versed in the style Leeds play and know exactly what needs to be done to make the Wembley dream, a reality.
