Premier League new boys Brighton & Hove Albion are set to launch a club-record bid of £12 million to prize Chris Wood away from Leeds United.

25-year-old Wood was in fine form for Leeds last year managing 27 league goals for the Whites last season as they finished 7th, just one place outside the Play-Off’s. His tally was enough to see him handed the Championship Golden Boot and it may have earned him a move to England’s top-flight.

Brighton, who finished 2nd to Newcastle last year, have apparently given Chris Hughton a major transfer budget to strengthen their side ahead of the new Premier League campaign and Wood is believed to be one of the club’s targets. It would be a familiar surrounding for Wood should he make the move down South as he spent the 2010-11 season on-loan at the club.

The fee being touted about for Wood is £12 million but in this market I don’t think that’s anywhere near what Leeds will value him at. It’s believed that a £20 million fee has been slapped on the 6 foot 2 inch hot-shot and that might be a price that Brighton do not feel worthy of spending.

I hope we don’t lose Wood personally but if a club was to come in with a £20 million bid then I’m not sure we can say no.

What are your thoughts, do you think Wood will still be at Elland Road come September 1st? Let us know in the comments below.

I think this sort of story is just gossip with the aim of unsettling our player…

Woods knows he is at a very big club already and only one from the top six in the Premiership could realistically tempt him away….until one of them does Wood knows he is with one of the biggest team in the UK and that he will be playing Premiership football next September after making himself an all time hero in Leeds helping to score the goals that get us there!!

As I said previously we are going to get loads of this for the rest of August but I can’t see us selling under 20 million.
However, I noticed that Bartley was only on the bench in the Swansea friendly against Sampdoria and did not get a start.
He will be going somewhere before the window shuts. I could see a deal to take Wood to Swansea for cash plus Bartley as long as it was in plenty of time to get a replacement?
