In a move once foreign to Leeds but now commonplace Leeds are on the verge of completing the signing of highly touted Poland youngster Mateuz Bogusz.

His current club, Ruch Chorzow, confirmed on twitter earlier in the week they have received an official offer and ‘look forward’ to an official draft.

Ironically, Bogusza operates in similar spaces to the other Mateusz at Elland Road and plays as an attack-minded midfielder.

Despite his young age, the midfielder has been regularly used by Ruch Chorzow and was equipped with the number 10 shirt at the start of the season and has already netted 6 times this season. In the past, Napoli have invited him for trials.

Whilst this is undoubtedly a signing for the future, the fact Leeds are competing with Europe’s biggest and most financially strong teams is encouraging and we are quickly becoming a club where youngsters want to come and develop their game. This is in no small part due to the recruitment done by Victor Orta across large swathes of Europe but also the set-up of the academy and the coaching that’s received.

Further encouraged by the opportunities afforded to youngsters; as we have seen with Jack Clarke and Jamie Shackleton this season where young players are trusted to take major roles in the side and play proper parts in the side rather just a garbage time appearance.
