Leeds set to complete first signing of many?

Leeds United have been under a transfer embargo recently due to he winding-up petition against them and also all the other recent financial problems. However with that soon to be sorted, we look set to make our first signing of the transfer window, Marco Silvestri from Italian club Chievo, he spent last season on loan at Cagliari, making the signing easier. At 23 years old he has had quite a lot of experience, for a keeper, playing 27 times for Reggiana and 25 times for Padova before joining Cagliari. He has also featured for Italy at U20 and U21 level.
After Cellino saying we weren’t going to sign any Italians, it looks like we may well be signing quite a lot of Italians and probably players from other countries as well. It also appears that if we do sign Silvestri it will be for quite a lot of money, I’m always cautious when hearing “Million” and “Leeds” in the same sentence but it may be possible here. I’m not one for judging players from a YouTube video but ill leave this here just in case anyone is interested… Silvestri video

Even after the slightly disappointing appointment of Hockaday, or even more so now, I want Leeds to sign some good players and keep hold of McCormack. I think we especially need to invest in 2 or 3 wingers, especially with Cameron Stewart leaving before he really joined by the looks of things. Pace can do a lot in this league. We definitely need a new centre-back to go with Pearce who is solid, Tom Lees and Scott Wootton are not good enough in my opinion. I think Zaliukas would be a really good player for us with the right partner but him and Pearce would not work due to a lack of pace. Now everybody has come to the realisation that Austin isn’t good enough I’m sure we’ll all agree that we need a new centre-midfielder to go with Luke Murphy and Alex Mowatt. Hopefully Sam Byram comes back to his best and is solid at right-back as he is currently our only one after Peltier left and it would be even better if Charlie Taylor made the left-back position his own after his successful loan spell at Fleetwood.

Let us know what you think. Would you be happy with us signing mainly Italians?

Don’t care couldn’t be any worse than we’ve had for the last 5 years. The keeper looks to good for us god knows how much he will cost.

Simon, too good for us ?
I’m sick to death of negative armchair fans who belittle the club????? Do you realise how big LEEDS are? In the 2005 play off final we had 250,000 application’s for 50,000 tickets’s! Maybe you should know your clubs history and passion cos yer certainly not getting it! MOT

Its bound to happen some of these young Italians such as Viviani are on 30k a year and look decent, put that against the likes of say Luke Murphy whos on apparently 22k a week and not really pulled up any trees its value for money and you cant really argue with that! Saying that the keeper looks good especially if you put him against the pictures of our overweight bozz eyed keeper in training.

  • Looks good. Let’s hope he arrives
