Phil Hay, formerly of the Yorkshire Evening Post, has today confirmed that Leeds are set to secure the services of Ben White, a young centre-back from Brighton and Hove Albion, on a season long loan deal.

It’s been said that White has been a key target for Leeds this season and he’s been top of their desired centre-backs list (if one exists). White joins Liam Cooper, Pontus Jansson and Gaetano Berardi as Elland Road’s main centre backs.

Much discussion floated last season regarding getting a new centre back, though Marcelo Bielsa remained adament an extra back-up was unncecessary. However, this department was hit heavily by the infamous injury crisis at Leeds last season, which forced Leeds to rely on their youngsters such as Aapo Halme or to put Kalvin Phillips in a make-shift centre back role.

White spent the latter half of last season on loan at Peterborough where he made an impressive 16 outings for the Posh.
