Leeds United have today confirmed that a transfer request made by left-back Charlie Taylor has been rejected.

Taylor, a product of the famed United academy, was Leeds’ player of the season last year in what was his first full season as a Leeds player. Speculation has been rife this transfer window regarding the sale of Taylor but the club made a statement today reaffirming their commitment that Taylor will not be sold this summer despite the fact he only has one year left on his current deal.

The club statement read: “Further to recent speculation regarding Charlie Taylor, the Club can confirm that a transfer request from Charlie was received over the weekend.

“Garry Monk and Club President Massimo Cellino agreed at the start of the transfer window that Charlie would not be sold and, therefore, the transfer request has been formally rejected.

“The Club has every confidence that Charlie will continue to conduct himself properly and play his part this season as the Club pushes towards the top of the Championship.

“The Club will not make any further statement on this matter.”

Taylor has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs including Burnley and West Brom and it certainly seems like his long-term future will be away from Elland Road. I for one can’t see him signing a new deal now.

Should Leeds cash in on Taylor now or would a good season see him commit to a new deal at Elland Road? Let us know your thoughts.

He was fairly silent at Peterborough…. Said it all to me.
I think he’ll be fairly hopeless… just like Byram… He wants to leave.
    Let him go.
