It’s no secret that Marcelo Bielsa wants to get the ball moving quickly at Leeds. Especially on the transfer front, don’t be surprised to see a move or two completed before preseason starts next week.
Given the admiration Mauricio Pochettino has for Bielsa, it will come as no shock that Leeds have instantly been linked to a Tottenham defender, Juan Foyth. The 20-year-old centre-back joined Spurs last summer for a fee of around £8m but only managed to make 5 appearances, all in the FA Cup. It would make sense for Spurs to try get him some game-time and with Bielsa now pulling the strings at Leeds, don’t be surprised to see this move happen.
Felix Wiedwald is set to have his contract bought out, with Frankfurt reportedly set to take a chance on him back in the Bundesliga according to BILD. It’s a shame it never worked out for Felix but unfortunately he just isn’t suited to the English game.
According to a report in Holland, Leeds are interested in signing AZ Alkmaar striker Wout Weghorst. The 25-year-old forward scored 18 goals in 32 appearances last season to help his club finish 3rd in the Eredivisie. If you’re wondering, no, that wasn’t a one season anomaly. He also scored 18 the previous season, consistency right there.
With Hernandez and Vydra, they are still both very much in the running for Leeds. Both players are in-demand and despite Hernandez being on a free, it would still be a very expensive move. For me, they’re very different players and we need a Hernandez type of player more than we do Vydra. Although more importantly, Bielsa is said to be a big fan of Vydra, so we’ll see where that goes.
Whether most of these moves or none of them come off, expect news out of Elland Road soon, Bielsa isn’t here to mess around.
