According to Sunderland website Roker Report, Andy Lonergan has agreed to join Sunderland on an 18-month deal. This rumour has been going round for a few days now and I think it’s fair to say nobody in Leeds will mind too much. He played well for a few games when covering for Felix but he went back to his old self soon enough.

When this rumour originally surfaced it was said that instead of a fee there would be Sunderland player coming to Leeds. At this stage it’s unknown whether that’s actually the case but it does seem unlikely that Leeds would let Lonergan go for free when we only signed him this summer.

Possible players involved in a swap deal are Aiden McGeady and Jack Rodwell. Rodwell’s career has been a bit of a mess for a while now but McGeady could definitely do a good job for us.

Leeds will also look for a replacement backup keeper, with Adam Bogdan from Liverpool the front-runner.
