Leeds United are amongst a whole host of clubs, including Crystal Palce, Fulham and Southampton, in a race to sign Chelsea’ Conor Gallagher on loan, according to Leeds-Live.com

Gallagher is a more advanced central midfielder, though he does not shy away from veering out wide to create plays.

The Epsom-born 20 year old spent this past season on loan at both Charlton, from where he was recalled in January, and Swansea, where he spoke of being allowed more creative freedom.

The same report claims that Chelsea have a preference for the player to be found a Premier League loan at a club that play a similar style to Chelsea.

Across both his Championship loans in the 2019/2020 season, Gallagher made 44 starts, with 6 goals and 8 assists to his name. He created 10 big chances and averaged 1.1 key passes per game.

It’s unclear and should be considered whether the Chelsea/Leeds friction, with the added Frank Lampard element might be a hinderance to this move.

If you cast your mind back two seasons, Chelsea sent three players to Leeds on loan: Lewis Baker, Jamaal Blackman and Izzy Brown. None of these could be considered to be the least bit successful and it’s thought relations between the London and Yorkshire club worsened as a result.
