Leeds head to Wolves – Who starts for the whites?

|

After a great bounce-back win against Middlesbrough, Leeds head to the league-leaders Wolves tomorrow night. They’ve only lost one home game all season, to Cardiff in August. It’s very important that Leeds put in a good performance down there and come back with at least a point, we can’t afford to lose too many more games at this stage. Anyway, let’s get into the team…

GK – Andy Lonergan – I would have put Felix back in for the Boro game but Lonergan came through that so should retain his place.

Into the defence…

RB – Luke Ayling – Ayling was more like the player we came to love last season on Sunday, putting his body on the line and getting forward well, he’ll have a tough task on his hands tomorrow night against Jota.

CB – Pontus Jansson – We need to see some consistency from Jansson now, he was top class against Boro but he’ll have a harder job on Wednesday against Bonatini who has 10 goals in 16 appearances for Wolves.

CB – Liam Cooper – Cooper had one of his better games on Sunday and it’s about time we had a sustained partnership at the back.

LB – Gaetano Berardi – He had a bit of a tougher time than he’d have hoped for on Sunday but he’s still our best option there. It’d be nice to see a left-back arrive in January.

Into the midfield…

CM – Ronaldo Vieira –
Seems to be back to his best at the minute, he will be vital to our success tomorrow night.

CM – Kalvin Phillips – He and Vieira seem to have a great partnership which started last season. It’s not common to have a central midfield partnership with the average age of 20 but they dominated Boro, hopefully they can do the same again tomorrow.

CAM – Samu Sáiz – Christiansen tried playing Phillips in this role but I think it’s time we just play our best players in their best positions no matter if we’re at home or away. Samu is top quality and should play his preferred role.

Into the attack…

LW – Stuart Dallas – Although possibly a contradiction to my last statement, Hernandez doesn’t really have it in him to play as a wide player away from home and Dallas is in some of the form of his life. He’ll provide some good defensive help too.

RW – Ezgjan Alioski – We finally saw the good side of Alioski again on Sunday, he’ll need to put a top shift in tomorrow against an even better team.

ST – Kemar Roofe – With Lasogga ill, it makes sense to carry on with Roofe who did a good job centrally, with play in the buildup for Leeds’ second goal.
