Leeds are falling apart again…? Player ratings v Derby

It’s not looking good, Jeff. Leeds United have lost 6 of their last 7 matches, with little sign of life anywhere. There’s so many little things that are going wrong, it’s hard to point the finger at anyone. Oh, I almost forgot that the Derby penalty was outside the box and Leeds should have had a penalty, but that doesn’t excuse the performance. Anyway, here we go…

Andy Lonergan – 7 – Nothing he could do about either goal, still a better option than Felix.

Into the defence…

Luke Ayling – 5 – He’s really not playing very well defensively, he finds himself out of position way too often for someone of his experience.

Matthew Pennington – 7 – A step up from his Sheffield United performance but there’s something about him that just doesn’t seem steady, that might just be me.

Pontus Jansson – 7 – A bit more like the Jansson of old, the frustration came out from him late in the game which is why we saw him pick up a rare yellow card. He needs to remain in the side now.

Stuart Dallas – 8 – I thought Dallas did a good job at left-back all things considered, I’d like to see him playing further forward though as he’s the best crosser of a ball we’ve got.

Into the midfield…

Eunan O’Kane – 6 – Sloppy at times tonight and never really controlled the game as he was doing earlier on this season, it’s a worry.

Ronaldo Vieira – 7 – He made a quality tackle to set up the Leeds goal and was one of our better performers tonight. His passing needs to become more consistent though.

Samu Sáiz – 9 – He’s just better than everyone else isn’t he? The ball to Lasogga for the offside miss was biblical. He deserves better from his team.

Into the attack..

Ezgjan Alioski – 6 – He showed signs of form tonight but the end product just isn’t there from him at the minute, I think he could use a rest.

Kemar Roofe – 6 – One of our best players in the first half but he faded away massively into the second, we need to see more consistency from him.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga – 7 –
Took his goal extremely well but he’ll be disappointed to miss this chance late on

Something is seriously wrong with Leeds at the minute, we have no bottle whatsoever. The referee being diabolical didn’t help, but Christiansen, get it sorted please.

Let us know what you think needs to change at Leeds!

Got to build the team around the little magician that is saiz. TC needs to find his best 11 we need to buy a midfield enforcer and we need to play 2 up front.
I’m seriously worried though now. We’ve lost 6 out of our last 7 including 3 on the trot at home.not got. Worried he’s out of his depth.

  • Charlie Bach says:

Simon Grayson is available, I think Christiansen is on borrowed time

  • Judy says:

Could Grayson really make any difference? He couldn’t sort Sunderland out, so why should he be able to sort Leeds out? His record at Sunderland is worse than TC’s at Leeds!

  • Yi says:

Defenders are diabolical today! We have not keep a clean sheet for a long time! Pennington is like a school boy! Jansson is like walking on the moon in slow motion! We need to sort out the defence desperately!

  • CLIVE says:

SUBS VERY STRANGE FOR ME, SACKO QUICK BUT THICK .AYLING STRUGGLING BECAUSE NO COVER WHEN HE GOES FORWARD. TEAM NOT BALANCED .NEVER MIND TC ANALIZING MONKS RESULTS,NEEDS TO LOOK CLOSER TO HOME. MAKING OUR BETTER PLAYERS LOOK POOR. SHOULD HAVE SPENT MORE MONEY ON REPLACEMENTS ,TO MANY BARGAIN BASEMENT PLAYERS.

  • Alan cooer says:

Yes Christiansen is on borrowed time, but the players are not helping. there are four players just have to go
we need two midfielders.and at the moment the players are all over the place and there is no good leader,
running round like headless chickens looking at each other

  • Rob Norris says:

Lasogga worked hard, won a lot of headers but he’s isolated – the system 4-2-3-1 does NOT work often enough to blindly stick with it as TC seems to be……
    3-5-2

Didn’t have that killer instinct tonight. Slow build up at times. Should have seen the game off in the first half. Let Derby come at us by giving them space and time to work it out from the back and we never really got the second ball in the second half. Need to strengthen in all areas. Ayling is just that at present. Jansson seems not quite with it and Pennington looks uncomfortable on the ball. Midfield needs more steel and not sure that Lasogga is the real long term deal. He can score goals but he spends much of the game running around aimlessly. Worryingly, the bench doesn’t look strong at present either! I am sure that this can be turned around but all the players and TC need to be on their metal in future games so that confidence levels rise.

  • Chris supporter 55 seasons says:

Ayling has cost us 3 goals in 3 games at home he was nowhere to be seen when the ball got played down the left for the equaliser, Berardi has to play right back when his suspension finished. We should have had penalty in the first half and their one was outside the box. A game we should never have lost do feel Christianson is on borrowed time.

  • Paul says:

I have heard that Gordon Stracen is lined up if results don’t improve

  • Irfaan says:

TC has got to go. He has lost control in the dressing room. Leeds is not playing as a team.
Gordon Stracthan the man to take over.

  • Ri says:

No bottle, no heart, no grit ! Apart from Saiz and Viera we have gone backwards from last season. Would rather see our players fight and miss a few games through suspension than hide and not tackle as they are now.
What instructions is Jansson getting to go from fighter to fluffer !!! We miss Bartley badly ! Agree 2 up front has to be worth a try be that Roofe who was scoring or Ekuban when he’s fit we need to try something else as this clearly isnt working.

  • David says:

Typical false dawn at eland road ,back five need strengthening also need more steel in midfield ayling is liability basics like passing the ball to feet is at schoolboy level, should never have sold Chris wood, especially to a smaller club”
