In an unprecedented and very uncharacteristic move, Marcelo Bielsa announced an emergency press conference at 5pm at Thorp Arch.

This was to address the ‘Spygate’ ‘scandal’ that emerged on Friday after an individual from Leeds was found to be watching Derby’s preparations for the game on friday from a main road with a pair of binoculars. This was followed numerous opinions circulating on the internet whether he was right or wrong, some even calling for him to go.

Some thought this Press Conference would be to announce his departure, however rumours of this were quickly quashed by Pontus Jansson, with this sublime bit of banter at a journalist who seemed like he wanted to be the first out the traps in case the worst did happen.

Bielsa apologised after Leeds beat Derby comfortably 2-0 but maintained he had not broken any rules and was doing something he had done for a long while.

Hilariously, Bielsa prepared a presentation for the awaiting press. He opened his remarks by saying he called the emergency press conference because he wants the pre-Stoke press conference to be about the weekend’s game. On his desk he had copies of a book titled ‘Championship Analysis 2017-18’, which he has made available to the league for it’s ongoing investigation.

He summarised: “It’s about watching from a public space an activity in a private place which affects fair play. I’ve already said I’m the one responsible. The club is not responsible whatsoever. The person who did it followed my orders”

“Many condemning me saying it was immoral, unethical & violated fair play. Some say it was cheating. The club felt obliged to make public excuses to Derby.”

“I observed all the rivals we played against and watched the training sessions of all our opponents before we played against them”

Defending his action, Bielsa then said “What I’ve done is not illegal. It’s not specified (in the rules) and it’s not restrained. We can discuss it, it’s not seen as a good thing but it’s not a violation of the law. I know that not everything that is legal is right to do, But not all the wrong things you do are done with bad intentions”

Officers conducted routine checks which were all above board. Despite media reports, no damage to the fence was found, and the man was stopped outside the grounds. No arrests were made and the man was sent on his way. (2/2)
