Leeds and Fulham in talks over Smith

The first rumour involving a player departing from Elland Road on transfer deadline day is none other than Matt Smith. Smith has only recently signed a new three-year deal at the club and a move away seemed unlikely just a couple of weeks ago. Fulham – who also spent £11 million to bring in Smith’s strike partner from last season, Ross McCormack – are in talks with the club over the signing with Millwall also waiting in the wings. Millwall previously had a £500k bid rejected for the tall front-man.

Smith had a great first season at Elland Road, ending the season with 13 goals and 8 assists. It appears that starts for him at Leeds are going to be hard to come by, with Billy Sharp and Mirco Antenucci forming an impressive partnership up front.

It’s certainly going to be an interesting day ahead. Hopefully we will bring another couple of players in as well as get rid of the deadwood.

Smith offers alternatives and can keep defences very busy. Would be a shame to lose a game changer like him. And, he isxstill kearning!
