Leeds United are to start renegotiating terms about an extension on Sam Byram’s current deal, as reported by the YEP late last night.

Byram, 21, isn’t wanting a move away from Leeds this Summer according to various rumours and it has now emerged that Leeds are wanting to tie him down at Elland Road. His current deal expires next summer.

Tying the youngster down is imperative for the clubs future in my opinion. Byram is a wonderful talent and to lose someone who has made over 100 appearances for the club would be a big mistake. He seems fairly settled in Leeds although the fact Cellino wants him to decrease his wages may sway him from wanting to stay at a club he’s been at since he was 12.

Newcastle and Sunderland have both been linked with Byram, the former sent scouts to watch him impress in Saturday’s game against Burnley.

  1. This is not a easy one, the signs are Sam wants to stay also the club and the fans want him to stay, we don’t know what the gap is between the two positions, think its quite big by the way things broke down in January, we know Massimo plays hard ball, guess Sam’s agent is playing it the same way, we just have to hope there’s movement. Over the summer the club have made a lot of progress witch will have helped from a revenue and team point of view, so hopefully there will be enough movement to enable Sam to sign, if not we have to get as much money as we can, lets hope we can get Sam to sign a long term contract though.

  2. Where did the “fact” come from Cellino is wanting to reduce Byram’s salary? Agreeing increased pay and signing Byram for 3+ years would only increase his value and therefore cover off any increases in pay should we need to sell him. That of course assumes his form continues.
