Leeds are one of four English-based clubs retaining an interest in signing Rangers defender Connor Goldson, a report from Football Insider has claimed.

Goldson joined Rangers from Brighton back in the summer of 2018, and has since gone on to make 105 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish giants, and it seems he has caught the eye during his time at Ibrox.

According to the latest reports, Premier League outfit West Ham, and the Championship’s top three sides – Leeds, West Brom and Fulham, were all interested in Goldson during the January transfer window, and it seems that interest could arise again come the end of the season.

It has been suggested that Rangers will have to secure a new contract for Goldson, in order to hold off that interest from the likes of Leeds, with the defender’s current deal set to expire at the end of the 2021/22 season.

Rangers are said to be confident of agreeing to such a deal with the centre back, who they reportedly value at around £6million, meaning it could be difficult for Leeds to secure the signing of the 27-year-old.

But with Ben White’s loan deal set to soon come to an end, Leedswill need to add to their central defensive options, and you wonder if the chance of a regular starting spot in the Premier League – should the Whites win promotion this season – be tempting for Goldson, with a place in the top-flight potentially giving Leeds the funds they need to afford such a deal.
