The Whites have ben very busy in the transfer market this summer, but are currently coming up short where an attacker is concerned, struggling to get their top target over the line.
Victor Orta has contingencies in place, and one of those is PSG youngster Arnaud Kalimuendo.
The French striker has been impressing under Christoph Galtier in pre-season for PSG, scoring twice during their pre-season tour of Japan, alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Neymar.
However, because of that star-studded attack, a move away remains a distinct possibility, in order for him to continue to progress after two great loans with Lens.
Leeds aren’t the only side interested in the forward, though, with L’Equipe now reporting that Ligue 1 outfit Rennes have made direct contact with the player.
Nice are also looking to sign the striker, but with Leeds’ offer already on the table, they are in a losing position at the moment to win this race.
That said, convincing Kalimuendo of an exit will be a significant ask as he aims to make himself an established first-team player at the Parc des Princes – something that the board and Galtier deem difficult due to the competition for places up front.
Should Leeds move onto Kalimuendo?
There’s no surprise that other sides in Ligue 1 are looking to sign him after the last two seasons that he’s had with Lens.
12 goals last term having turned 20 halfway through the season is a tremendous haul, and like Joe Gelhardt, he’s only going to get better from here on.
Kalimuendo would be a very good signing for us, but I just think that all of our focus appears to be on signing Charles De Ketalaere.
What is comforting is that we have backup plans in place and Kalimuendo would be a brilliant signing regardless.
