As ever, Marcelo Bielsa’s press conference proved fruitful for learning about the goings on at Leeds United. Today, the news we got was undoubtedly good.
Bielsa confirmed that both Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips are available to play against Reading tomorrow.
Bamford picked up an injury in the process of scoring as his tap-in ended in him colliding with the goalpost. Ouch. Bamford played on for a good period of the game after this but in the end the injury was too much and become counter-productive to Leeds’ attacking movement. He came off half-way through the second half.
Kalvin, too, struggled with injury for moments in the Bristol City game, though did manage to see out the full ninety.
This should be a huge relief to Leeds fans as not only are they key players but their respective replacements/alternatives, Kemar Roofe and Adam Forshaw are both out with an injury.
Elsewhere, Bielsa confirmed that Jack Clarke will feature for the U23s tonight and they will monitor his performance then perhaps use him again on Thursday night. From this, we can probably presume that he won’t be ready for the Sheffield United fixture on Saturday unfortunately.
