It’s been suggested that Cody Drameh will have to prioritise minutes above all else as a Leeds United exit looks likely this January.

Leeds have failed to offer Drameh a pathway into the first-team at Elland Road this season, despite the 20-year-old impressing last season out on loan with Cardiff City.

With Rasmus Kristensen and Luke Ayling established ahead of Drameh in the pecking order at Leeds, the Yorkshire Evening Post are reporting that a move away from Elland Road looks likely in January, with Newcastle United still said to be an interested party.

A further insight has emerged from the YEP’s Joe Donnohue, who has underlined how Drameh needs to prioritise minutes more than anything as he picks his next move.

Alongside that, it’s his belief that Drameh needs to find a club playing a brand of football that suits.

Drameh has made seven appearances for Leeds in total, two of which have come under Jesse Marsch this season.

The youngster played 90 minutes of Leeds’ 3-1 EFL Cup win over Barnsley in August, as well as 70 minutes in the 5-2 defeat to Brentford in the Premier League.

In what year was Cody Drameh born?

When you look at Drameh leaving Leeds, you can accept it if the reason for him going is to go and play more football.

So, if he opts to push his way out of Leeds in January and he ends up in the Championship, it’s fair enough, as he will be moving to further his career in the immediate months.

However, somewhere like Newcastle aren’t going to guarantee a first-team pathway, not with Kieran Trippier in the first-team. He’d still need to source a loan beyond that to play in the coming six months.

From a Leeds perspective, it’s a case of wait and see when it comes to Drameh’s next move. There will either be some really understanding supporters or those same fans questioning the youngster’s decision.
