Leeds United may not be looking to sign RB Leipzig’s Tyler Adams this summer as Kalvin Phillips nears an exit.

While Marc Roca presents a significant addition to Leeds’ midfield setup under Jesse Marsch, more are going to be required.

Kalvin Phillips’ proposed big-money move to Manchester City opens the door for a further addition or two to the side alongside Roca.

With Marsch’s Red Bull links, an instant connection emerged to RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams, who is expected to leave his club this summer.

Is £42million enough for Phillips?

The Athletic’s Phil Hay did relay claims that Leeds were indeed interested in the USMNT man, should Phillips need replacing.

However, ESPN journalist Taylor Twellman has suggested that Adams may not be in the running to become a new Leeds signing:

Leeds are expected to make a midfield signing next week, with Darko Gyabi scheduled a medical ahead of a £5million move from Man City.

Adams would be a good move, but this would suggest we are after someone else.

If we are looking at other targets, I’m expecting good standards because Adams would be a good signing.

We need someone to do a lot of the leg work that I’m not sure Roca would be able to supply, and with Adams, we’re talking about a great engine.

I have faith that the club will be looking at a good target, knowing who we have signed so far this summer.
