Leeds United are expected to keep hold of Michael Skubala as part of the coaching staff for next season, even though Sam Allardyce and others will leave.

Upheaval is expected at Elland Road this summer no matter whether Leeds can produce a miracle against Tottenham on Sunday, aiming to stay up against all the odds with a win.

From top to bottom, it looks as though Leeds are all set for major changes, starting with the boardroom, and working down to the coaches and playing squad.

Will Sam Allardyce stay?

A departure that is more or less certain this summer is that of Sam Allardyce, who only joined the club for these four games and nothing more.

He brought Karl Robinson and Robbie Keane in as his backroom staff, and there is uncertainty whether the pair will be following him out of the door when this season is concluded on Sunday.

What about Michael Skubala?

Someone else who has made a big impression this season is coach Michael Skubala, who came in initially to work with the under-21s side, before being promoted into the first-team after his caretaker stint, between Jesse Marsch’s sacking and Javi Gracia’s appointment.

The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Joe Donnohue has revealed that the coach is going to stay at Leeds no matter what changes unfold in the dugout:

“Any new coach will need to decide which members of staff he wants in his Leeds backroom team.

“Michael Skubala took on a first-team coaching role under Javi Gracia and now Sam Allardyce and is expected to stay at the club even if Allardyce and assistants Robbie Keane and Karl Robinson depart.

“There is the possibility Skubala returns to coach the Under-21 side with whom he enjoyed success this season, given current 21s lead coach Paco Gallardo was a Victor Orta hire.”

Skubala is going to be a really valuable asset for the club to keep hold of in the coming years, knowing how much good work he’s done with the youth team.

Not only that, but he clearly has a good rapport with the senior players too, given his promotion to the first team with Gracia’s appointment.

Whether or not he goes back into the youth setup remains to be seen, but he deserves to stick around absolutely.
