Leeds United have made a number of offers in their attempts to sign young Celtic defender Matthew Anderson.

That’s according to the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth, who says that Leeds’ attempts to sign the teenager have been unsuccessful.

It was first reported all the way back in June that Leeds had made an offer to Celtic for the signing of Anderson.

The left-back has yet to make a senior appearance for the Scottish giants, although he has previously been capped by Scotland at Under 16 level.

Now it seems as though Anderson’s performances in the youth ranks have tempted Leeds to make some significant effort to secure his services in the past few months.

Writing in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Smyth has revealed that Leeds have made a number of attempts to try and sign the left-back this summer.

However, all of those offers are said to have been rejected by Celtic, and it now remains to be seen if Leeds will make any more move for the teenager before the window closes.

You do feel as though Leeds could do to continue their pursuit of Anderson here.

With Niall Huggins moving on from the club, they are short of options on the left-hand side of their defence at youth level.

Indeed, Leeds have shown in the past that they can bring through young players to their senior side in fairly quick time, and with the potential he possesses, Anderson is another who could fit that bill.

At his age, you also feel as though the 17-year-old could be affordable for Leeds, and given the deal may well prove to be a popular one with the fanbase, it could be worth Leeds coming up with yet another attempt to sign the teenager.
