Leeds United could be looking like the likeliest destination for Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico.

The Whites started May with a defeat to Brighton as a lacklustre performance was punished by the Seagulls.

It’s a result that doesn’t matter much in the grand scheme of things for Leeds as a mid-table finish remains almost a certainty.

With that pressure eased, attention can turn to transfers and a new left-back.

The Mirror have reported that Leeds are targeting Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico in his summer.

The left-back has been in great form this season and the reported asking price of £13million seems a value hard to pass up.

Now, it seems as though Leeds’ surprise interest in Argentina’s starting left-back is genuine.

De Telegraaf journalist Mike Verweij has claimed that Leeds are well in the race for Tagliafico.

Speaking on the Kick Off podcast (via Voetbalprimeur), he had this to say:

Leeds’ interest appears to be more serious than anyone assumed. Internazionale also appears to be in the market.

I can’t think of a reason why this wouldn’t be a great deal for Leeds.

Tagliafico has shown he’s more than capable of vastly improving our side at left-back.

We know that Gjanni Alioski’s inconsistency in the Premier League makes that position a real area for improvement.

Hopefully, we actually pursue this interest and get a deal done he has why would be a brilliant move.
