Cody Drameh picked up a knock last night as Leeds United’s U21s beat Tranmere Rovers 5-3 in the Papa John’s Trophy.

Leeds were able to hand the likes of Drameh, Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Wilfried Gnonto a chance to play in the competition after they didn’t feature against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday.

It was a positive night for Leeds, although there is something of a dark cloud hanging over the fitness of goalscorer Drameh.

As per Joe Donnohue of the Yorkshire Evening Post, Drameh picked up a knock towards the end of the clash and was set to be assessed by Leeds today.

The 20-year-old, who excelled on loan with Cardiff City last season, has been providing cover for Rasmus Kristensen in the Premier League. However, with Luke Ayling fit again, Drameh looks set to be less involved under Jesse Marsch in the weeks to come.

Drameh played 70 minutes of Leeds’ 5-2 defeat to Brentford, stepping in for the injured Kristensen and ahead of Ayling for the afternoon, as well as playing 90 minutes of the EFL Cup win against Barnsley.

In what year was Cody Drameh born?

Drameh has been very important for Leeds this season, providing depth and a quality cover option for Marsch at right-back.

He stepped in well for Kristensen and can probably count himself as unlucky to be behind such good options at first-team level.

Again, he impressed last night for the U21s, scoring and looking a cut above the level of opposition Leeds were up against.

You do question whether another loan would be useful in the January transfer window but that will depend on the depth Leeds have available at that point. It will also depend on Drameh’s fitness and how well he is playing.

Fingers crossed this knock isn’t serious and he can continue to get minutes under his belt.
