Leeds United look to be joined by West Ham in the pursuit of Blackburn Rovers sensation Ben Brereton Diaz.

With January fast approaching, Leeds are getting timely reminders that their squad might not be strong enough to go the distance and stave off relegation.

Most teams will go to Manchester City and get taught a footballing lesson this season, but Leeds’ embarrassing 7-0 defeat highlighted major shortcomings that ought to be addressed.

As Patrick Bamford sits out once again, the lack of adequate cover for him has become more alarming, and with that, there have been links to Blackburn’s Ben Brereton Diaz.

The Chilean international has been one of the stories of the season so far after his emergence for his country during the summer before firing 17 goals so far in the Championship.

It looks like he’s going to be hot property ahead of the January window as his contract winds down towards the summer, and talkSPORT’s Alex Crook has delivered an update.

Speaking live on air with Jim White, he stated:

“He’s just about the hottest property outside the Premier League right now, his name is Ben Brereton Diaz. 17 goals in 22 games this season. We understand he is attracting interest from the likes of Leeds and West Ham in the Premier League.”

It’s no shock to me that he’s gathering major interest from other clubs in the Premier League.

I think it would be a brilliant chapter to his growing story if he was to join a Leeds United side managed by a Chile icon from the past in Marcelo Bielsa while he’s their newest star.

I’d love it if we signed him because it’s so obvious we can’t cope when Bamford is out.

Not only that but his versatility to play in other positions across the front would make him a really good asset for us to have.
