Newcastle United are still interested in signing Leeds United winger Jack Harrison this summer.

That’s according to Daily Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards, who does however say there is nothing imminent in terms of potential incomings.

Harrison’s future has been the subject of some considerable speculation this summer, amid rumoured interest in the 25-year-old from Newcastle.

Indeed, there have even been claims that Leeds have already rejected a bid from their Premier League rivals for the signing of Harrison.

Some reports on Friday though, had claimed that the Magpies has turned their attention to Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana, after being put off by Leeds’ £35million asking price for Harrison.

Now however, it seems as though that may in fact not be the case, with Eddie Howe’s side seemingly still keeping their eyes on Harrison.

Providing an update on where Newcastle stand with their interest in Harrison on Twitter, Edwards wrote: “#nufc retain a strong interest in Jack Harrison. Leeds United are not willing sellers at this stage. Given I first reported this interest in May the fact it hasn’t ended yet is, in itself, interesting. Nothing imminent on incomings. Market still difficult but work ongoing etc“.

This will likely be something of a concern for Leeds in what remains of the transfer window.

There has already been plenty of pressure on the club to get business done this summer, and the departure of Harrison would further add to that, since he is a player that would need to be replaced.

However, Newcastle ought to have the funds to put the pressure on Leeds with a bid for the winger, and you can understand their interest in him given the impact he has made in the Premier League.

With that in mind, you feel that in this respect at least, Leeds will be keen to see the window close sooner rather than later.
