Leeds United are in need of a swift solution to their managerial hunt, with interviews already underway to replace Jesse Marsch.
The American was given his marching orders at the start of this week as his side extended their winless run in the Premier League to seven.
An away trip to Manchester United this evening will not see a new permanent face in the dugout, as Michael Skubala, Chris Armas, and Paco Gallardo take charge of the side for this meeting.
Andoni Iraola is the name that fans are going to be looking at for updates, with Fabrizio Romano revealing he is the club’s top priority:
Andrea Radrizzani has revealed that talks are ongoing to bring in a new manager as soon as possible, and journalist Dean Jones has now added further insight.
Speaking to Give Me Sport, Jones had this to say:
“The plan for Leeds United is to have someone in by the weekend and if that doesn’t happen it’s a bit of a disaster to be honest.
“That home game with Man United is when they really do want the new era to kick off.
“Iraola is emerging as the most likely choice to turn to at this stage because he seems to be the one on their list that is most attainable. So they’ve got to go to him now and really test his loyalty.”
Who should replace Marsch long-term?
Arne Slot
Andoni Iraola
Marcelo Gallardo
Other?
Jones is spot on that it would be catastrophic if Leeds were not able to get an appointment in before the Manchester United meeting at Elland Road.
We have more important, and more winnable games to come after this one, so there are better games to focus on, but the new man needs more time.
A good performance in that game under a manager that shows signs of progression quickly would be a hugely encouraging sign.
