Pascal Struijk is attracting interest from Huddersfield Town this summer, with Carlos Corberan keen on a reunion with the versatile Leeds United man.

Leeds are preparing for life back in the Premier League in 2020/21, but Corberan has left them to take on the senior job at Huddersfield.

He’s chasing loan deals for a few Leeds players too, with Struijk one of those.

What’s the story?

Corberan has been under Marcelo Bielsa’s coaching umbrella for the last two seasons, running a job between the senior set-up and the under-23s.

On the back of promotion he’s been sounded out for the Huddersfield job and taken on the role down the road in West Yorkshire.

A report from Alan Nixon has confirmed he’s keen on taking Struijk with him on loan, whilst Robbie Gotts is another player the Terriers are in for.

Struijk was very impressive for Leeds last season during the run-in, stepping off the bench in the vital win over Barnsley.

A centre-back by trade, the Dutchman interestingly filled in for Kalvin Phillips in the midfield.

He thrived there and was involved in the wins over Derby County and Charlton Athletic on the back of his cameo against Barnsley.

The view from N12:

As things stand, we can’t afford to lose Struijk.

The 21-year-old is an option for Bielsa at both centre-back and in midfield, with the Dutchman comfortable in either role.

He thrived last season stepping in for Phillips and his natural position is in the heart of defence.

Looking at the size of the squad at the moment and with Ben White not around, he’s needed and will be involved in the first-team picture.

Of course, signings could be made, but even then, you’d imagine that Struijk has done enough to be seen as cover.

He looked such a class act in the Championship run-in and you’d be amazed to see him move out to Huddersfield this summer.
