Marcelo Gallardo will reportedly not be the new Leeds United head coach after turning down the club’s proposal.
Leeds are on the lookout for Jesse Marsch’s successor after sacking him on Monday afternoon. Michael Skubala is in temporary charge right now, overseeing back-to-back fixtures with Manchester United it seems.
Andrea Radrizzani and Leeds’ other board members have struggled pinning Marsch’s replacement over the week, despite plenty of optimism over on Twitter.
Former River Plate manager, Gallardo, is one name that’s been touted, yet the 47-year-old looks like he’s knocked Leeds back.
Is Gallardo to Leeds off?

Reports are suggesting so, with Cesar Luis Merlo reporting on Twitter: “Marcelo Gallardo will not be the manager of Leeds.”
It appears that the timing of taking over at Leeds mid-season is one of the reasons why Gallardo is knocking back the offer.
The South American continues: “The proposal was concrete, but the Argentine thanks him (them) since his intention was to take over only halfway through the year (in the summer).”
Who should replace Marsch long-term?

Could Leeds appoint Slot?
Arne Slot of Feyenoord is seemingly another option for Leeds at this stage.
It’s been reported by Miguel Delaney that Slot’s release clause is only €6.5m. However, he also outlines how it’s not an easy decision leaving the Eredivisie leaders.

Gallardo would’ve been an exciting appointment at Elland Road, yet you understand fully his reservations about taking the job mid-season.
It’s far easier to implement your ideas over a pre-season and that’s something that we’ve seen with another high-profile South American in recent years.
Leeds are finding this search for Marsch’s successor tough, but that’s the nature of selling the club where it is at the moment, with the risk of relegation, whatever you think of the squad.
