Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch has admitted that he understands the frustrations of the club’s supporters, as their poor run in the league continues.

A 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon further increased the pressure on the American at Elland Road, and he is aware that things need to change quickly.

It is now seven games without a win in the Premier League for Leeds, following this defeat at The City Ground, which came courtesy of Brennan Johnson’s half volley 12 minutes in from the edge of the area.

While Leeds were the better team in the first half, they failed to take advantage of the openings they created, and then rarely threatened after the interval.

As a result, the Whites remain 17th in the Premier League table, only outside the relegation zone on goal difference.

That saw calls for Marsch’s exit emanate from the away end at The City Ground, and the 49-year-old does appear to have sympathy for those fans and the emotions they are going through.

Speaking about those fans who made their feelings known during the game, the Leeds boss was quoted by The Yorkshire Evening Post as saying: β€œIt’s my responsibility, and I understand their frustration and I accept it, and I have to find a way to turn a lot of the good things that are happening into results, or we find ourselves in a stressful situation.

“I understand the frustration and doubts. Internally we have belief here. We do. The players are all in. They’ve giving everything they have.

It’s just we’re young and we’re still trying to put it all together. But I have to find a way right now to make sure that come Wednesday we’re ready for a big result.”

It would be hard for Marsch to deny the fact that he is under pressure at Leeds right now.

We know from the change they made around this time last year when they brought Marsch in to replace Marcelo Bielsa, that the club will make a change if they feel it is necessary to stay in the Premier League.

They are of course, in a similar position now, and for all their promising play, they showed little sign of actually getting a result against Forest, in spite of the work done strengthening the squad this season.

As a result, it is no surprise that frustration and concern is growing from the fanbase, and with two games against Manchester United in the next seven days, this could be a crucial week for Marsch.
