Leeds United trio Illan Meslier, Liam Cooper, and Robin Koch were all missing from the trip to Cardiff City with various muscular issues, while Tyler Adams also sat out.

Leeds needed a stoppage-time equaliser from Sonny Perkins to remain in the hat for the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday, as they drew 2-2 with the Championship strugglers.

There were changes made from Jesse Marsch’s lineup that managed the same scoreline last time out in the Premier League, with some enforced and some rotation.

The goalkeeper and centre-back pairing changed from the four-goal thriller with the Irons, as Illan Meslier, Robin Koch, and Liam Cooper all missed out in the FA Cup meeting this weekend.

Joel Robles, Diego Llorente, and Pascal Struijk (as captain) replaced the trio in their respective positions while Junior Firpo slotted in at left-back.

It was confirmed post-match by Jesse Marsch that all three players were missing with various muscular issues (via Adam Pope):

Tyler Adams was also absent from the match with an issue revealed by Pope to be around his achilles:

The number of injuries we are getting at the moment is a real worry, and you have to wonder what is going on behind the scenes.

Marcelo Bielsa was often accused of over-training these players, but he’s gone and the same problems are still here.

Something needs to be addressed because we can’t keep getting the same sort of injury problems every season.
