Pleasantly, yesterday numerous figures associated with Leeds, be it fans or club officials, tweeted our their birthday well wishes to Jack Charlton, Leeds’ World Cup Winner.

Charlton turned 83, and it was a good opportunity to reflect on the centre backs illustrious career at Leeds, his only club. Jack made 629 appearances for Leeds, with his debut coming at the age of 17 under manager Raich Carter. Charlton would go on to play a central part in all the great moments we know of that era, not least the 1971-’72 FA Cup Final.

One particular commemoration caught the eye of current Leeds owner, Andrea Radrizzani. He appeared to like this tweet from user @aid1973

In recent years, the South Stand has become increasingly popular with younger fans, those who give Elland Road the atmosphere it’s famous for. Further, with the prospect of South Stand redevelopment looking ever more likely, with many suggestions that Leeds should do away with the boxes up there in order to be able to get more seats in the main area, is it finally time Leeds’ South Stand got a proper name for itself?

Charlton would be a fitting candidate for such a tribute, are there any others?
