Next up for Leeds is an away trip to Ipswich, in recent times it’s been a very bad ground for Leeds. No win for Leeds in the last 6 visits to Portman Road. The head to head record is pretty even, Leeds shading it with 27 wins to Ipswich’s 20 wins, with 16 of the matches ending up in draws.

Ipswich have had a difficult start to the season, predicted to do well this season, mainly because of their manager in Mick McCarthy. To be fair to them they have had some hard fixtures to start the season with, they were unlucky to be beaten 2-1 away to Reading on the opening day of the season. They followed up with a poor performance in the cup to be knocked out by Stevenage in a 2-0 defeat. They got their first points on the board in their second league game against Millwall at home with a 3-0 win. However not too much should be read into that as Millwall have had a very poor start to the season. Their most recent game was a 1-0 defeat away to QPR, a hard place to go and they will feel hard done by as they put in a solid performance and only lost to a 90th minute goal. Early days but they are currently 14th in the table.

Leeds have had a solid start to the season, winning the opener against Brighton with a 94th minute goal. Followed up with two draws, one away to Leicester and the other at home to Sheffield Wednesday. 5 points from the opening three games puts us in 9th at this moment in time. What Leeds are lacking in is clear for all to see, we simply have no width going forwards and teams are going to take advantage of that. Also with rumours of our only big threat going forward Ross McCormack getting sold to Middlesbrough, it’s not looking too promising for us. However if we manage to keep hold of McCormack and make 2/3 signings we could definitely challenge this year.

I can see our line-up being exactly the same as the last away game against Leicester, unless we somehow manage to sign someone before hand. I think Poleon is going to be a great player but still has a lot to learn and away from home especially I think he could be a great threat off the bench.

I think the game will finish 1-1 with a late equaliser from Matt Smith off the bench, at this moment in time we are just not good enough to win games away, especially against good teams like Ipswich.
