Leeds United are still not one of the three favourites for relegation this season, despite sitting 19th in the table after their draw against Brighton.

This season’s relegation battle is set up to be one of the tightest in years with as many as nine teams still in with a decent chance of getting relegated.

Leeds’ appointment of Javi Gracia has seen them pick up four points in their last three games, but results elsewhere mean Leeds are actually worse off in 19th than they were before.

Could Leeds go down?

Relegation should be seen as a very distinct possibility at Elland Road, as they sit on 23 points after 26 games, one point behind 17th.

However, the narrow margin between bottom of the league and 12th got even more slender this weekend, with the gap between Southampton at the bottom and Crystal Palace now just five points.

A win against Wolves next weekend would lift Leeds to 14th in the table, should everyone else not pick up points, with every side taking on someone 11th and above.

What are the chances of Leeds being relegated?

Five-Thirty-Eight have shared their latest forecast on the battle to stay in the Premier League, giving every team a percentage chance of being relegated.

Everyone from Aston Villa upwards has less than 1% chance of going down, while the probability jumps to 11% with Palace, and more as the table goes down:

Interestingly, Leeds are ranked as the fifth likeliest to go down, despite being second-bottom in the table, with Nottingham Forest and Everton forecasted as two more likely to be relegated along with Southampton.

It might be a more optimistic view, but Leeds should still count themselves in with a great chance of staying up.

Four points from the three games we have played is as good as we should be expecting to get out of trouble, and carrying on like that would see us safe.

A win at Wolves would surely move us up the table, and then we have more winnable games to come towards the end of the season.

We have a favourable run of games to play still with a number of the bottom half still to go, and home wins against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace would go a long way to helping that.
