Aston Villa could face up to four key players being absent ahead of a trip to Elland Road to face Leeds United.

Leeds are currently 11th and winless in three games having not played since a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Brentford on match day six.

Steven Gerrard‘s Aston Villa side have endured a tougher start to the season. His side sit 15th in the table having won two and lost four of their opening seven games.

Facing a depleted and out of form side could be just the remedy for Jesse Marsch‘s men, but who are the absentees for Villa? We take a look…

LeedsLive have reported that Aston Villa trio Lucas Digne, Diego Carlos and Boubacar Kamara will all miss the game at Elland Road.

Carlos suffered a major Achilles injury which should keep him out for much of this season, and Kamara has suffered suspected knee ligament damage.

Left-back Lucas Digne picked up a stress fracture on international duty with France which is expected to keep him out until after the World Cup in Qatar.

However, Matty Cash is in a race against time to be fit again for the clash with Leeds. The Polish international sustained a hamstring injury in the draw with Manchester City earlier this month, and he subsequently missed the game against Southampton before the international break.

An update on his availability is yet to be provided but he is thought to be touch and go for the trip to Leeds.

Jesse Marsch started his senior playing career with Chicago Fire.

The news is a major boost for the Whites as the four players are among Aston Villa’s best.

Cash in particular provides the energy down their right flank, whereas Digne is a magnificent crosser. The options in reserve at full-back include a 36-year-old Ashley Young. Leeds should be licking their lips.

Marsch’s side will be particularly ready after the long break, as many of his players should be returning to full fitness. With the likes of Patrick Bamford, Junior Firpo, Liam Cooper, and Luke Ayling all expected to make a full return to action soon.

An ideal time to be playing this fixture. Leeds will be searching for their third win of the season to get themselves back on track.
