Plenty of Leeds United fans have been reacting to Lewis Bate’s performance for the club’s Under 21s in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night.
Although Bate and his teammates were beaten 5-3 by Salford City the midfielder garnered yet more praise for his progress in a Leeds shirt.
Ever since arriving from Chelsea in the summer, Bate has become an increasingly impressive figure for the Whites at youth level.
Initially, was left on the bench for the game, but was brought on at half-time in place of Jack Jenkins with Leeds trailing 3-2.
While Bate was unable to inspire a complete turnaround, he did catch the eye once again, netting a stunning solo goal with a brilliant run from his own box to finish midway through the second half.
That is something that did not go unnoticed among Leeds fans, with plenty calling for Bate to get his chance in the first-team, as they took to Twitter to give their thoughts on the game.
Here, we take a look at what some of those supporters had to say about the 19-year-old’s latest performance.
You have to feel that a first-team opportunity can’t be far off for Bate now.
We have seen that Leeds and Bielsa are willing to give those sorts of chances to young players, who have impressed at youth level.
That criteria certainly applies to Bate, who seems to impress more and more with every game for the club’s academy sides at this moment in time.
Indeed, with concerns over Leeds’ strength in depth in midfield, adding another option in that position such as Bate could be a smart move, and one that could work well all-round.
