Leeds United have confirmed the return to training of centre-back Charlie Cresswell this week.

The Whites have been desperately unlucky with injuries this season, extending even down to the under-23s who were stepping for senior players out.

Charlie Cresswell reportedly suffered a dislocated shoulder late in 2021, with Marcelo Bielsa confirming the defender was due to be back following the international break.

Now, it looks as though he’s on track to make his recovery on that schedule, with the club sharing this image of him back in training today:

While this isn’t as massive a boost for us as Phillips and Cooper being back, Cresswell is another defensive option we can now count on.

His injury came at such an inconvenient time, because he would have definitely picked up further league starts in the meantime.

I don’t expect him to come back into the lineup right away, but the fact he’s there now makes our depth issue look less painful.

Hopefully, this week is the start of us turning a corner with our injury problems (touch wood).
