Leeds United director of football Victor Orta is reportedly on the list of candidates that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is looking at right now.

The Whites are in the midst of plenty of changes of their own right now both on the pitch and off of it, with the ownership of the club potentially set to shift in the next two years.

Leeds aren’t the only club possibly seeing changes, and their setup is something that looks to have drawn admirers.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is plotting some boardroom appointments to strengthen the infrastructure of the club, and Leeds’ Victor Orta has appeared on the American’s radar recently – per The Telegraph.

Having seen Orta look to previous colleagues to bring to Leeds in the shape of Patrick Bamford and Adam Forshaw, a move to Stamford Bridge could see him do similar in cherry-picking from Jesse Marsch’s crop.

The Daily Express have speculated four players that the Spaniard could be tempted to try to take with him to Chelsea, if this move materialised.

The players named in the report are goalkeeper Illan Meslier, with Edouard Mendy not performing well this season – shown by his Elland Road howler; Jack Harrison, who could be a shrewd option for Graham Potter in a back three or back four; Brenden Aaronson, whose performances this season prove he’s destined for big things; and Joe Gelhardt, after his first Premier League goal came at Stamford Bridge.

Do Leeds definitely need a left-back in January?

It wouldn’t be a surprise to me if Orta did try to bring those players to Chelsea, should he move himself.

However, there’s a project in the works here and I cannot see Orta wanting to move onto pastures new for some time.

We’ve heard it multiple times that the goal is to break into Europe, and Orta is part of that plan, and he won’t want to tear that up now.

He’s worked incredibly hard to help us to this position, and it would be a waste to leave now, as much as there are plenty who have justified criticism.
