I wanted Redfearn but Milanic deserves a chance

When Redfearn first took over as caretaker, this time, I didn’t want him to get the job permanently and part of me still doesn’t. There’s a few ways of looking at it, anyone after Hockaday would be seen as brilliant, or maybe Redders has become an excellent head coach? I’d like to think it is the second, he has got slightly better in each spell as caretaker and now looks brilliant. He integrates the young players well and seems to get the best out of the more experienced lads too. Stephen Warnock has looked outstanding since Redfearn took over.

You can tell all the players like him too. Speaking of improving, that’s what Leeds did in each game under Redders. However I also know how vital he is to our academy and if he had been sacked as Head coach and we’d lost him completely I’d have been gutted. I just hope no other clubs take him off us.

Onto Darko Milanič, I can’t claim to know much about him because I don’t. He has a decent record in management, winning 4 league titles in Slovenia at Maribor along with 3 cups and a super cup. I don’t want to sound too negative but Maribor are basically the Celtic of Slovenia so I don’t want to get too ahead of myself with his record. He then joined Sturm Graz in Austria and guided them to a 5th place finish, they were knocked out in the 2nd round of Europa League qualifying.

Milanič retired early from football, at just 31, due to injury. This allowed him to gain all his coaching badges at a young age so is clearly an experienced coach. He also had a very successful playing career, winning 3 league titles and 8 cups in total, along with captaining Slovenia at Euro 2000.

We all know Leeds fans will give the new manager time, that’s what we do. A win against Brentford and we’ll be on a great run. What we, along with Massimo, want to see is a continuation from Redders reign, good football and good results. If we start playing Hoofball I don’t think Cellino will be best pleased.

Darko Milanič is our first manager who’s not from Britain or Ireland, hopefully he is one of our most successful too. Leave a comment below on what your thoughts are at the appointment.

Also, I’d like to thank Neil Redfearn for his effort during his caretaker spell, he has truly transformed our team.

I think mass should have stuck with redders for the rest of the season. Whatever he has done the players have responded well to it and we are playing with so much confidence it’s amazing to watch.

The pessimist in me is worried how things will change when Donnie Darko arrives as he will have his own systems, tactics etc.

Can’t thank redders enough though as once again he’s done fantastic, annoyingly though I’m willing to bet he will be linked with any job that comes up in the championship or league one given the quick turnaround in fortunes since hock left.

On another note how baffled do the players the players look in that video with Darko’s first training session? doesn’t fill me with confidence.

Interesting to see mass at the training ground didn’t know he did that.

Clearly him and redders are close, was like two old friends getting together with that hug 🙂
