One player to leave Leeds United on a permanent deal during the 2022 summer transfer window, was Leif Davis.

The left-back, who made 14 senior appearances in all competitions for the Whites, had spent the 2021/22 campaign on loan in the Championship with Bournemouth.

His return to Leeds after that loan spell did not last long, with Davis then completing a move to League One side Ipswich Town in July 2022 for a reported to be worth over £1million, on a three-year deal.

This season has since seen Leeds struggle at left-back with injuries to Junior Firpo and Stuart Dallas, and some inconsistent form from Pascal Struijk.

As a result, there will no doubt be some interest about how Davis has fared since heading to Portman Road, so we’ve taken a look at some of the big questions around that move, right here.

How is Davis getting on at Ipswich Town?

It has been a rather good season for Davis since he made that move to Ipswich.

The 23-year-old has been a regular feature for the Tractor Boys this season, starting 33 of their 35 League One games since the start of the campaign.

In that time, the left-back has made a considerable impact, scoring two goals and providing nine assists, seemingly thriving in Kieran McKenna’s side.

That contribution has helped Ipswich to third in the current standings, just five points adrift of the automatic promotion places, meaning Davis ought to be enjoying his first season at Portman Road.

Will there be regret at Leeds that Davis wasn’t retained?

There is certainly an argument that Leeds may now regret not keeping Davis, given the problems they have endured at left-back.

However, it is worth noting that he is playing at a level two divisions below what he would be, had he remained at Elland Road.

Indeed, it could also be pointed out that the left-back struggled to make an impact in Bournemouth’s promotion winning Championship team last season, appearing just 15 times for the Cherries.

As a result, you feel there is no guarantee that Davis would have provided Leeds with a solution to their left-back issues this season, even if he has stayed at the club.
