Liverpool’s interest in Leeds United star Raphinha has been reaffirmed by the player’s agent, Deco.

Transfer speculation has often been fuelled outside of the window opening by agents making frequent claims.

Leeds have been on the other end of this recently, with their name being used as a means to drive up the price of a player going elsewhere.

However, the rapid rise of Brazilian superstar Raphinha has led to more discussion about his future and with that has come comments from his agent.

Raphinha made his first three Brazil appearances this week, registering two goals and two assists, showcasing that he is destined for the very top of the game in coming seasons.

His agent, Deco, had this to say on his future to Globo:

“There are certainly many clubs interested in him. Liverpool do like him and there were some approaches, but nothing official. Leeds wanted to keep him for another season.

“Raphinha is happy at Leeds, but there will certainly come a time when he wants to take a step up in his career and move forward. He has three years left on his contract, but there’s nothing in it that states how long he must stay for or that prevents transfers.”

His comments have stoked the fire with regards to whether he’ll be on the move next summer, and Leeds fans weren’t too pleased…

If only we could just speculate harmlessly about a player’s likely departure without an agent coming in and looking to make it a huge deal in the middle of October.

Now, we’ve got to be looking over our shoulders hoping that we can at least keep him until the summer, with Liverpool certain to start sniffing.

What is definite is that we’re going to get a big fee for Raphinha when he does decide that he needs to leave to further his career.

It’s just a shame that we have to deal with the murmurings of Deco now.

Let his football do the talking and the move that he supposedly wants in the future will fall into place, we don’t need to add to the speculation.
