After going down clutching his ribs in the second half against Barnsley, Athletic reporter Phil Hay has today said that he expects Costa to miss Leeds’ two final games of the season.

Costa struggled off on a stretcher, and was replaced by Gjanni Alioski in the 49th minute.

It’s very possible that Alioski starts in the next game vs Derby with Costa out. However, it is equally possible that Pablo Hernandez, Leeds’ fine wine, starts in the ex-Wolves wingers’ place.

Hernandez had already been subbed on at half-time for Tyler Roberts, so it’s impossible to judge whether Bielsa would have preferred to bring on the Spanish Wizard.

Costa has started 33 games for Leeds this season, and has become fundemantal to Leeds’ attacking process. He’s notched himself 8 goals and assists in his first season at Elland Road. Having signed permanently the other day, Helder will undoubtedly be vital at Leeds in the years to come.

Leeds travel to Derby needing just a point to seal themselves promotion, and a return to the Premier League. They could achieve it before then, however, if either of their promotion rivals, West Brom and Brentford, drop points. Both play before Leeds take to the pitch at Pride Park, on Sunday.
