Leeds United are in with a good chance of being able to sign PSG striker Arnaud Kalimuendo this summer.
With the opening day clash against Wolves just three days away for Leeds, there is unlikely to be a fresh face in the squad by then, but the club and Jesse Marsch are looking.
In particular, a striker is on the agenda for Victor Orta, and the pressure is on to find the right sort of player rather than the quickest solution.
PSG’s Arnaud Kalimuendo fits the criteria of the type of striker that Leeds need, able to chip in with an impressive goal tally, very young, and can operate from deeper positions too.
Not only are Leeds interested in the Frenchman, but an offer of €20million is said to be on the table right now, as Kalimuendo looks to force his way into Christoph Galtier’s plans, as he continues to catch the eye with every recent appearance.
The Whites have been handed a boost in their quest to sign Kalimuendo, though, with journalist Ben Jacobs sharing this insight into their chances of being able to sign him:
Kalimuendo came on for nine minutes during PSG’s 4-0 win over Nantes in the Trophee Des Champions on Sunday.
Who definitely should start up front v Wolves?
Patrick Bamford
Joe Gelhardt
Rodrigo
Go and get him.
We have shown through our attempts to sign Charles De Ketelaere that we have the money to throw at a huge signing, and Kalimuendo would come in cheaper.
Whether or not the club are sold on it remains the main question now, because it’s a deal that is there to be done if we do pursue it.
I commend the club for not rushing into a deal that doesn’t benefit us, but we don’t want to leave it too late and be left with nothing.
Kalimuendo would be a real coup for us to pull off, and a statement of intent that we’re not going to be battling relegation.
We keep losing out on so called targets, latest looks like Diaz from Blackburn, this is going on and on, ridiculous!
