Leeds United put in another lacklustre performance away to Brighton but got away with a 0-0 draw.

As Leeds climbing into the Premier League in 2020, one thing everyone knew they were going to bring to each game was incredible intensity.

Some opponents coped fairly well, while some simply couldn’t deal with the energy levels Bielsa’s men possessed.

This season, however, hasn’t been nearly as good overall from Leeds as they sit just outside the relegation zone.

Their latest performance brought more concern from fans as Graham Potter’s Brighton dominated proceedings but couldn’t capitalise, seeing the game end in a stalemate.

The visitors looked uninspired and lacking in the energy that saw them finish ninth last term, and it’s been a theme of this season.

Bielsa has his reasons though, and ahead of a midweek clash against Crystal Palace tomorrow, Phil Hay shared the Argentine’s justification of this shortcoming:

I think Bielsa’s right in that our side hasn’t been able to recover well with injuries piling up.

However, we had setbacks like this in the Championship where games were twice a week almost, and we still played with significantly more energy.

I hope we can rectify this issue soon otherwise we’re in for a long season of battling against the drop.

The return to full fitness of major players will be a massive indicator in how we get on though.

The standard across the league has dipped significantly this term if you ignore the best three sides who have a wealth of depth, so Bielsa is right in that regard.
