A typical Leeds performance. First half they look like a promotion contender, second half was more like the 15th placed Leeds we know and hate. Anyway, here are the ratings…

Felix Wiedwald – 6 – Didn’t really have to do anything, came and missed at the only ball he went for. Didn’t have a chance with the goal.

Into the defence…

Luke Ayling – 6 – A really frustrating performance from Ayling, he made the wrong decision consistently when in good positions

Pontus Jansson – 8 – Jansson had an extremely strong performance tonight, his goal was exquisitely taken and it’s good to see some consistency at last.

Liam Cooper – 8 – Just as good as Jansson, he was first to every header. If he’d stayed onside from that free kick then we’d probably be talking about a win right now.

Gaetano Berardi – 7 – I thought he dealt with Snodgrass well, his distribution was lacking today though.

Into the midfield…

Ronaldo Vieira – 8 – His physicality is extremely impressive for someone of his age, you’d think he’d been playing for a lot longer.

Kalvin Phillips – 8 – He was everywhere tonight, breaking up any attacks that came his way, especially in the first half. It’s crazy how a partnership as young as this one can work so well.

Samu Sáiz – 5 –
Couldn’t get anything going tonight, the ball seemed to be stuck under his feet at all times. He did put in one great ball that was dying to be finished.

Into the attack…

Ezgjan Alioski – 6 – Not the same player he has been for the last 4 games, passes were going astray frequently.

Pablo Hernandez – 8 – One of our better players tonight and him leaving the game injured clearly had a big effect on the second half.

Kemar Roofe – 5 – Didn’t make any real contribution apart from running around a bit.

Caleb Ekuban – 7 – Another game similar to Barnsley, put in a really good shift and did everything right without scoring a goal. He could have got on the end of Samu’s cross but to be fair Alioski got in his way.

Overall it’s a decent point but Leeds really should have won that game after taking the lead. Let us know what you thought of the game in the comments!

Leeds should and could have won this game. Villa were there for the taking. I was not impressed with the Manager, first for delaying his substitutions (Sacko needs more than 10 minutes or so but even then there were hints of what he could achieve with longer on the field) and second for his post-match comments. How can a Manager be satisfied with a performance that issue in just one goal in a game that shlukd have been wrapped up at half time ? Why should we be pleased with one point when three were available against a surprisingly ordinary Villa team ? Generally his tendency of talking up the opposition has to stop – it lowers the bar of expectation for both players and (some) fans.
