Full Championship table predictions

In the build up to the season starting this weekend, we thought we’d cause a bit of chaos and get the abuse flowing by predicting the entire Championship table, starting from the bottom upwards. So let’s get into it:

24th – Barnsley

They had their fun last season but let’s face it, they’ve lost some good players and they’re going to feel the consequences this season.

23rd – Burton Albion

Nigel Clough did a really good job keeping them in the division last year but he won’t be able to do it again, though I don’t think they’ll get embarrassed like Rotherham.

22nd – Bristol City

They concede too many goals and are likely to lose Flint before the end of the transfer window, it’s time for them to go back where they belong.

21st – Bolton

Still having money problems, I think they’ll just manage to stay up mainly due to Phil Parkinson, who I rate highly.

20th – Millwall

Sadly I think Millwall will survive, they’ll get enough home wins to keep their heads above water.

19th – QPR

A truly irrelevant club with a dinosaur of a manager, don’t be surprised if Holloway is the first man to lose his job this season.

18th – Sheffield United

Actually quite glad to see them back in the league. However, they haven’t made enough good signings and the Ched Evans signing makes no football sense.

17th – Preston

They’ll suffer with the loss of Simon Grayson but have too many good players to be in a relegation battle. Mid table for mediocrity for them.

16th – Nottingham Forest

Lost a top player in Assombalonga and replaced him with the ever average Daryl Murphy, that will define their season.

15th – Cardiff City

Warnock will do what Warnock does, bore you to death on route to another average season. He’ll then leave, wait till someone is fired and repeat the process.

14th – Sunderland

Big fan of Grayson but Sunderland are a mess, as seen by Darren Gibson’s latest exploits. Not enough of their players care for them to be challenging at the right end.

13th – Ipswich Town

A typical Ipswich season where they never challenge for the playoffs and they never get into a relegation battle. I couldn’t think of a more boring team to support.

12th – Reading

I don’t see Reading doing anything like what they did last season, their style of play will be figured out and they’ll have a very dull season.

11th – Birmingham

They’ll give it a go under Redknapp but ultimately they’ll come short as although they threatened to, haven’t really made any decent signings other than Stockdale.

10th – Brentford

Really good to watch when they’re on form, especially at home. Ollie Watkins was an excellent signing for them, but I do think they’ll fall just short.

9th – Norwich

They’ve had a big turnaround of players and they’ve gone down the Huddersfield route of managers. The loss of Howson will be huge and although they still have a decent team, they won’t quite be good enough.

8th – Hull City

Hull could easily finish a way down the league table but I expect them to be hard to beat under Lenoid Slutsky. They just won’t have enough going forward to make the playoffs.

7th – Aston Villa

Although they’ll definitely be better than last season, the centre-back partnership of Chris Samba and John Terry has all the pace of a 1 legged dog on tranquilizers.

6th – Sheffield Wednesday

I think it’s just a given now that Wednesday will make the playoffs and lose, that’s all there is to say really.

5th – Derby County

They haven’t made many signings but Huddlestone and Andre Wisdom are both high quality for this league. I think they’ve got possibly the best manager in the league and that’s why they’ll make the playoffs.

4th – Leeds United

Pretty confident that we’ll improve on last season with our attacking threats, as long as we sign a centre-back and a left-back before September, we’ll be alright.

3rd – Middlesbrough

Arguably the strongest squad on paper, but I fully expect Monk to bottle it once again. He’ll be under so much pressure there that if he has a few bad results he’ll have to look over his shoulder.

2nd – Fulham

They managed to keep hold of Cairney which is huge for them. Jokanović seems to be having some issues with the Fulham hierarchy but as long as he keeps his job, they’ll challenge for automatic promotion.

1st – Wolves

It could so easily go terribly wrong for Wolves but I really don’t think it will. They have some players and a manager that are really too good for this league. I could easily see them going unbeaten at home.

Let us know what your predictions are in the comments and feel free to share this with your mates who aren’t Leeds so they can abuse us to their hearts content.

Wolves as champs? Ha ha! And Monk WILL bottle it as he’s a total ****! Hope they fail to make top 6 and he’s sacked, 3 year contract or not. Does that sound bitter? I hope so what a Judas! I like Leeds new manager, just hope he’s as good as his interview was lol.

Ps. Hope the Millwall animals get sent back where they belong in a pit ie. league 1! They act all hard but when they come to ER they are scared the service crew are about so instead of a regiment we get a platoon!

  • Peter Carolan says:

Really think that we will hit the top six, have a feeling that Sheffield Wed, will do better than you think, rool on Sunday.
