French Keeper Set to Undergo Medical at Leeds Today

|

With Bailey Peacock-Farrell leaving for Burnley, Leeds were left with just one senior keeper, Kiko Casilla. It’s been well known that since BPF left the exit door that Leeds were actively in the hunt for another keeper to play back-up to Kiko.

Sky Sports’ Tim Thorton has announced just this moring that Lorient keeper Ilan Meslier is in Leeds to undergo a medical ahead of a loan move that could last the duration of the season.

Meslier will be unknown to the vast majority of the Leeds fan base and for good reason. The 19 year old has only just broke into the Ligue 2 side first team and it seems likely that this loan will be with a view to a permanent move with Victor Orta, Leeds’ Head of Recruitment, obviously identifying a lot of potential in the player to be able to make the step up to meet the demands of Leeds’ level.

As the loans stack up and potentially another en route before Thursday’s 5pm deadline, Leeds will be wary that they can only ever name 5 loanees in a matchday squad and thus may be forced to pick one of their summer signings to sit out on a few occasions.
