Four Swansea players who could do a job for Leeds

|

Whenever a manager joins a new club, they are always linked with players of their former club. With Garry Monk this is no different. Monk has already nabbed Kyle Bartley on a season-long loan, we look at who else Leeds could potentially sign from Swansea this summer.

Marvin Emnes

Having been frozen out of the Swansea squad since Monk’s departure last season, Emnes could be set to drop down a division, and what could be better than linking up with a previous manager. He has Championship experience with Middlesbrough, where he scored 24 goals in 142 games. Not a great scoring record but he’s certainly a player who could bring more than just goals to Monk’s side.

Angel Rangel

The defender has spent the last 9 years at the Liberty Stadium, could Rangel be ready for a new challenge. He’s had a superb spell at the Swans, making over 300 appearances for the Welsh club becoming a real cult hero. In my opinion he’s a fantastic full-back. I’m unsure if he’d want to drop down a division and Swansea would probably want a decent amount of money for him, but the thought of linking up with Monk – who he played alongside at Swansea – could tempt him to Elland Road.

Wayne Routledge

Leeds desperately need pace in the wide areas and have done for some time. Stuart Dallas has been brilliant for us but we need someone on the other side to stop teams from taking him out of the game, something that happened at times last season. Routledge has pace in abundance, he has experience in the Championship and Leeds are one of only a handful of teams who could tempt him to drop down a division.

Leon Britton

Britton is yet to sign an extension at Swansea, despite the media reporting that it was expected he would sign a new deal at the Liberty Stadium. He’s a player Monk will know extremely well, having played alongside and then managed him. Britton would be a real coup for Leeds if they were to sign him, he’s a simple yet effective midfielder.

I’m not sure if any of these players will sign for Leeds, but they would all be very good signings for Monk’s Leeds.

Rangel, Routledge and Britton are too good for 2nd Div., they will not be motivated. To get promotion you need to have players who are young and hungry, Bartley fits that. (IMO)
