Reported Leeds United target Nicolo Zaniolo looks to be pushing for an exit from AS Roma, but a move to Bournemouth collapsed after being close last night.

The Whites aren’t the only side pushing to improve ahead of a relegation battle in the second half of the season.

AFC Bournemouth are looking to kick start their new era under Bill Foley with heavy investment to help them climb up the table.

If Leeds are to do anything else today after the signing of Diogo Monteiro, it’s going to be that of Nicolo Zaniolo, who might be lined up to replace Jack Harrison – who has been a late target of Leicester City.

The Roma attacker has become an unpopular figure amongst fans in the capital, and a move away would be best for all parties, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that Leeds had made a loan approach last night, but were swiftly rebuffed as Jose Mourinho’s side aim for a permanent sale.

Bournemouth are now revealed to have reached an agreement with Roma and the player overnight as they had an offer accepted, while the player had accepted an offer on personal terms too.

However, Di Marzio has since added that before the move had chance to materialise with the Italian travelling to England, Bournemouth officials turned their back on a move, having already spent too much this month to justify another significant outlay.

As much as this has been seen to be a red flag by a fair few Leeds fans because of his perceived willingness to play for any side, it’s a deeper issue for him than that.

Zaniolo has been forced into pushing for a move by the current state of anger with Rome fans towards him, as he was confronted at his own home.

He is more than justified to leave the club and accept whichever offer is on the table, and Bournemouth have seemingly been the ones pushing hard.
