There has been a whole bunch of names linked with the vacant manager’s job at Leeds United since it became available following the departure of Brian McDermott by Mutual Consent, or should I say coaches role. Many betting companies have stopped taking bets for Gianluca Festa to be the new manager of Leeds United. I’m sure this news would be less than inspiring, none of the names mentioned for the job so far have been exciting to be honest.

Gianluca Festa has a lot of experience in England, as a player, playing for both Middlesbrough and Portsmouth but his coaching experience is nothing to shout about. He’s had a spell as reserve team manager at Cagliari and briefly managed a team in the third division of Italian football. The appointment of Festa would almost certainly not be greeted in the best of ways but I would be willing to give him a chance, as would most Leeds fans.

Other names have been mentioned, such as Gary Bowyer of Blackburn and even Claudio Ranieri has denied being approached for the job. One name I did warm to was Gary McAllister. I know he didn’t have the best of times last time he was manager but out of all the names mentioned he is literally the only one I like. He may do a better job as a coach rather than a manager and he obviously loves Leeds United. He clearly has his flaws but out of all the names mentioned, I’d pick him.

Some bookies are still taking bets on Festa but he is heavily favourite, you can get odds of 1/2 at Skybet. Even though Festa is looking increasingly likely, I wouldn’t rule out further twists.

Agree on Macca, I think a coaching role would be perfect for him. I think that A / he coaches good passing football and B/ He has a good eye for talent which would help Cellino scout good british players……….

Gary Mcallister for me … OK he had problems last time around but, like a few others, he didn’t get the backing he deserved. However, his style of football would be something most of us would like to see, and who knows, with Cellino’s backing he could be the answer.
