Leeds United have sanctioned the exit of centre-back Diego Llorente today, as he joins AS Roma on an initial loan deal.
It’s shaping up to be a very busy at Elland Road for Victor Orta, with an incoming already confirmed while a departure is due to be officially confirmed too.
Centre-back Diego Llorente was a surprise name to emerge as leaving the club yesterday as it was revealed he was travelling to Rome in order to complete a loan move to Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma side:
With an announcement expected any moment now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the deal has been signed for Llorente to join the Serie A outfit.
The deal is on an initial loan until the summer, before Roma have the option to buy Llorente for a fee of €18million (£15.83m).
Do Leeds need to replace Llorente?
Yes
No
Managing to recoup that sort of money for Llorente would be a hugely successful bit of business for us, and you have to give credit to the board.
Llorente has shown at times that he can be a brilliant defender, even in flashes this season, but they have been few and far between.
A loan is best for all parties and you hope that he finds his best form ahead of the Euro’s in 2024.
